01.04.2010 - Birmingham, Michigan -- A luncheon honoring professional women in the automotive industry with the prestigious Spirit of Leadership Award, presented annually by the Women's Automotive Association International (WAAI), is slated for Saturday, February 13, 2010, in Orlando, Florida.
The 11th Annual Spirit of Leadership Awards Luncheon will take place at the Peabody Hotel in Orlando from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Individual tickets are $85.
The event is being held in conjunction with the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Convention & Exposition. All proceeds from the luncheon will be contributed to the WAAI International Scholarship Program, which provides tuition assistance to qualified students pursuing careers in the automotive industry.
According to WAAI Founder and CEO Lorraine Schultz, the Spirit of Leadership Award was established in 1999 to recognize women in the automotive industry who have achieved significant accomplishments in their profession, community and family, and who have served as mentors and role models.
"It is always a privilege for WAAI to recognize outstanding women for their professional achievements," said Jody DeVere, WAAI president and CEO of AskPatty.com. "Our slate of candidates is outstanding, and we look forward to announcing the names of the 2010 honorees. In the meantime, we urge everyone--members and nonmembers--to lock in the date."
Founded in 1995, WAAI centers its efforts on recognizing the achievements of women in the automotive industry, providing networking and relationship-building opportunities, and encouraging growth through mentoring, educational endeavors and scholarships.
