The Penske name means a lot of things. It means speed and racing in
your blood. It means competition and Indy and SCCA. It most recently
means Female Friendly. In 1958, Roger Penske drove his first official
race in the SCCA National at Marlboro Motor Raceway in Maryland and in
1959, Penske won his first race at the SCCA Regional at Lime Rock, CT,
driving an F-Modified Porsche RS. Many great feats were to follow for
the Penske team, including being named New York Times Driver of the
year in 1962 and winning the NASCAR Grand National series race in 1963.
In 1972, Team Penske
won their first Indianapolis 500, which is an incredible feat. The
Penske team went on to many more victories in the Indianapolis 500 and
other races. Today, the team is still breaking ground in the industry.
This year Penske Racing fielded the new Porsche RS Spyder exclusively
in its first full season of competition in the American Le Mans Series.
Their rich racing history is alive and well in the Penske Toyota
dealership in Downey, California. The showroom is a virtual motor
sports racing mini museum. Mounted on the wall is an original 1997 INDY
race car from the Roger Penske race team. It boasts an 800-hp
turbocharged DOHC V8 with a Penske transmission and steering system.
That power is all controlled by a Sun Microsystem ECU. The staff is
welcoming and helpful to all of their customers, including becoming
certified as an Ask Patty Female Friendly dealer.
Penske has gone above and beyond already to make their female customers
feel welcome. They have female service advisors and the service
department is open 7 days a week. They provide complementary
strollers for young mothers and a play area for children. The actual
dealership itself is very clean and easily accessible. If you stop in,
be sure to check out their shop area where they have Toyota accessories
for sale and a plushy area to sit in while you wait for service on your
vehicle.
Penske Toyota not only helps their own customers, they are active in
the community as well and regularly lends a hand with the American Red
Cross, donating significant funds to aid Hurricane Katrina victims.
Penske recently joined forces as a sponsor of Women’s Professional
Beach Volleyball! What a cool way to support women!
Penske Toyota’s Service Department is immaculate! It is one of the
nicest service areas we have ever seen. The service staff is ASE and
Master certified and holds multiple Toyota Excellence Certifications.
Penske Parts and Service will give you a direct shuttle ride and offers
convenient and safe facilities, and an array of in-stock parts. And
their parts and gift shop is huge and welcoming. Penske Toyota is a
full-service dealer with multi-lingual employees in every department to
assist with sales, financing, parts, and service. Penske Toyota
employees can do business in Spanish, Farsi, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.
