Inspired by the Cadillac Sixteen concept, the new CTS embodies design reach and precision. It is a production-intent vehicle. A new powertrain lineup features six-speed transmissions (manual and automatic) and the addition of the advanced 3.6-liter Direct Injection engine delivering approx. 300-hp with good fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

Waiting for the new Cadillac CTS to drive out onto the stage was agonizing. We’d heard all these amazing things about the design and woman-friendly interior so we wanted them to hurry up and get on with the show! Once the CTS was revealed we could see the reason behind all the hoopla. It was elegant, classy, refined—even a bit sexy. It also looked expensive.
Before the vehicle even hit the Detroit Auto Show and its debut, GM took it out to three different consumer clinics, where the vehicle’s targeted demographic gave it the once over and shared their thoughts with the designers. This is GM’s version of product assurance, according to the General Manager of Cadillac, James Taylor, and it looks like they listened.
When GM was planning the interior of the CTS, they looked at premium leather goods like high-end handbags and shoes, stated Sabrina Gorshek, Lead Engineer and Designer for GM Interiors. The comparison may seem silly, but it’s on point. The stitching in the upholstery looks hand done and top notch. The real wood accents and quality leather looks warm , cozy and inviting. It’s almost spa-like in its relaxing and luxurious styling. It also looks expensive.
We sat down with two of the amazing women at GM who made this vehicle come to life: Assistant Vehicle Chief Engineer, Elizabeth Pilibosian, and Program Manager of the CTS, Natalie Leavy. We asked them what it was like to work on the CTS and to work at GM.
Pilibosian said, “This is a car designed for women who have children who are already grown and she doesn’t want to drive a minivan anymore.” Right on sister!
Leavy stated. "As far as working at a large car manufacturer, traditionally offices that were filled with men, she says, “Many strong women, like Elizabeth, plowed the field ahead of me to make it easier for me to be working in this environment.” Pilibosian was quick to add, “You have to be a strong woman to work in this environment and to command respect.” There were feminine touches all over this car, from the interior finesses, to the design of the sound system and the drivetrain.
The designers goal was to make the customer feel rewarded for buying a Cadillac, and it looks like it worked. The CTS will be available in the fall of 2007 and even though it looks it, it turns out it’s not that expensive. The final MSRP should fall between 30 and 35 thousand. Now Lexus might just have a very mighty rival.

· Available StabiliTrak, integrating the car’s standard four-channel ABS with the full-function traction control, hydraulic brake assist and engine drag control systems.

· Available Adaptive forward lighting system with that automatically adjusts high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamp direction for improved nighttime driving visibility
