Hospitals across the United States have received donated hundreds of child-sized, HUMMER battery-operated vehicles to their pediatric units. Driving in the Family Way: 2008 Hummer H2

Posted by AskPatty - Automotive Advice for Women at Apr 22nd, 2008 7:38pm

Is it possible to have too much of a good thing? From the moment the Hummer's roof banged against the height-restriction bar stretched across the exit of my parking structure I knew my initial concerns about the size of the H2 were just the tip of the iceberg. It didn't bump the pole on the way up the ramp! That scrape, and the sign on the gate that said "No vehicles over 5000 pounds," set a heavy ...

How Big is Too Big? Supersized Hummer Poses Parking Problems

Posted by AskPatty - Automotive Advice for Women at Feb 19th, 2008 10:28am

The delivery guy drove the 2008 Hummer H2 up the ramp into my parking structure without any problems at all. I watched as he slowly drove under the bar that indicated the height limitation and I could see that he went safely underneath with inches to spare. Imagine my surprise upon exiting down the ramp, when we felt the roof of the humongous Hummer drag against the pole. And as if that wasn’t enough, when ...

The Last Living Driver of a Regular-Sized Car in the 'Burbs

Posted by AskPatty - Automotive Advice for Women at Jan 24th, 2008 6:18pm

My car is developing an auto-inferiority complex from being constantly squeezed between hulking behemoths in the parking lots of our little corner of suburbia. Which leads me to ask: am I the only one still driving a regular-sized (e.g. not a SUV, mini-van, or maxi-sized four-wheel-drive) vehicle these days? Okay. You have three or more kids, and each of those kids has friends and sporting equipment and band ...

GM 2008 Collection is Coming up Roses with a Focus on Energy Diversity

Posted by AskPatty - Automotive Advice for Women at Sep 24th, 2007 6:06am

I had a blast attending the General Motors 2008 Collection event this week with the ever passionate Bob Lutz, GM Vice Chairman and Susan Docherty, General Motors Western Region General Manager who I recently interviewed on AskPatty.com, they spoke about their excitement surrounding the GM brand revitalization that is currently underway. This event was a rare opportunity for me to test drive the many GM 2008 models before the ...

GM Vehicles Share The Summer Screen With Transformers

Posted by AskPatty - Automotive Advice for Women at Jul 3rd, 2007 11:26am

The summer blockbuster "Transformers" opens today, and let me tell you, it's going to take over theatres with a crash and a bang and a boom -- and whole lot of applause. Don't be fooled into thinking this is just some action adventure that can only be enjoyed by little boys. Yeah, they'll like it, but it's also important to note that two of the film's five headliners are ...

Here's a cool thing that came across my desktop this morning: Many hospitals across the United States will soon be adding child-sized, battery-operated Hummer vehicles to their pediatric units. The subcompact suvs are being donated by Hummer dealerships under a program called "Courageous Kids." The Hummers are used by young patients who may "drive" themselves into surgery or for other medical ...
