Jinx the DogExperts from the American Humane Association today cautioned that pets should never be transported in the bed of a pickup truck. According to their study, over 100,000 dogs die each year while riding in pickup truck beds.

As a result, Ford Motor Company and the American Humane Association today announced they are launching a new awareness campaign around pet travel safety in pickup trucks. The campaign is called “Dogs Ride Inside,” as a reminder to never let Fido ride in the truck's bed, no matter how happy he seems to be there. Also included are a few other suggestions to help keep pets – and the human occupants – safe while transporting pets in a pickup.
