Askpatty at Cynthiadamour: "Shame on You MSU and GM"

The 1950s are long over! Yesterday I received an invitation to attend Michigan State's Business School's 42nd annual executive forum.
* The conference at first glance sounded interesting.
* It's focused on going global with branding.
* Looking more closely at the seven speakers, I noticed they are all men.

Give me a break! In the entire state of Michigan, I have a hard time believing there are NO women qualified to share the stage with them. Going deeper on the site, I discovered the alumni advisory committee is made up of sixteen men and ONE woman. I loved attending Michigan State to earn my marketing degree - and feel so betrayed.

I was and still am flabbergasted that in 2007 the MSU Business School believes it is okay to create a major business seminar with no women as part of the program. Living in a diverse world and global economy, people are not cookie-cutter images of each other.

I was further surprised to find the event "generously supported by GM."
* GM has amazing women working for them.
* If you want to see how strongly women feel about their cars check out
* US car sales are struggling and women make a large percentage of car buying decisions.

AskPatty at Chicken Spaghetti: "Baby, You Can Drive My Car"

Earlier in the fall the proprietor of AskPatty.Com, which dispenses "automotive advice for women," mentioned her top ten children's books about cars. I was thinking about that list this week because I need to buy a baby shower gift. #1 on Patty's list is the classic Cars and Trucks and Things That Go, one of my son's all-time favorites. I'm going to include that book in my shower package.

My friend MJN reminded me of the car list; she blogs at The Alternate Side Parking Reader, which concerns the adventures of car ownership in New York. And if you think that squabbles over parking places don't get ugly, then read the post "Spot of Guilt." Whew!

AskPatty at Barbara Terry's Weekly Journal: 'GM Style Dubai Event November 11th 2007 Dubai UAE'

I just had the pleasure of being the Master Of Ceremonies for the most amazing event in Dubai UAE. The GM Style Event put on by General Motors and Vivacious was one of the most awesome experiences in my life. They truly know how to take care of the talent that they bring on for their projects.

My first afternoon there was spent rehearsing for the big event taking place the next day then I was fortunate enough to have a couple hours to walk around the local market full of goodies and Dubai souvenirs. After traveling to other parts of the world I must say that the people in Dubai are some of the most gracious and kind people in existence. That evening I also got to enjoy dinner with a fellow American “Jody Devere” from the Ask Patty Web Site and participated in a little girl talk.
