During the (instant classic) Cadillac commercial for the CTS, a clear eyed and confident woman is behind the wheel. She is driving through a tunnel, and the tunnel lights illuminate the interior enough to see that she is the epitome of a focused professional woman. And, of course, she is gorgeous.

She asks the question she says is most important: "When you turn on your car, does it return the favor?"

At, fun is the very first impression, and it is surely an enjoyable experience navigating through the site. But, make no mistake, this is no 'girlie' car site.

AskPatty at Ask Patty what's cool and high tech? Chevrolet Volt

The New Volt Takes You Farther
General Motors celebrated its 100th birthday this month with a new Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (E-REV), the Chevrolet Volt also displayed at the Santa Monica AltCar Expo. Aerodynamics was one of the key motivations for the design of the Volt, especially since it plays a big role in driving range.
The 16-kWh lithium-ion battery provides electricity for trips up to 40 miles. The battery works with a gasoline/E85-powered engine generator that sustains charge. When the battery is depleted, it can extend the car's range for hundreds of miles so consumers do not have to worry about running out of electricity. Because of its charging technology, the Volt can be charged in less than three hours on a 240v outlet. Moreover, GM estimates that the unique system only costs two cents per mile while under gasoline- and emissions-free battery power. The Volt is scheduled for production at the end of 2010.

AskPatty at Marketing 2 Moms: Mommy Overdrive?
Jody DeVere, CEO/President of, gives her thoughts on the latest VW ad targeting moms

Volkswagen appears to be pressing the creative marketing-to-mom envelope with their latest campaign for the 2009 Routan. Celebrity mom Brooke Shields appears in a lengthy "mockumentary" on the company's website (as well as in shorter versions that play out in commercials) where she tries to draw a direct correlation between the recent baby boom and the desire for people to drive the new Routan. We asked Jody DeVere, CEO/President of, to give us her thoughts (and the thoughts of other moms) on how well this strategy is connecting with today's moms.
