AskPatty at MotherhoodUncensored: "And Baby Makes Three Kids, and a New Family Car"
One of the biggest challenges we face with adding a third child to our family, other than losing the whole man to man defense thing, is that we don't own a car that will accommodate three car seats -- or really, two car seats and a booster. I'm no car reviewer, so if you want the nitty gritty details, you should go to the cars' websites, or check out my podcast guest for July 2, 2008, Jody DeVere, the Founder and CEO of Ask Patty. It's a fantastic resource that aims at enlightening women about cars.

AskPatty at Boulder County Business Report: "Blogger burnout: what it is and tips on how to avoid it"
People start blogs with an armload of ideas and the best of intentions, prepared to post several times a week or month. They're pretty good for awhile and then slowly ... they burn out.
They run out of ideas or time to write about their ideas. Blogging experts and area bloggers have ideas why blogger burnout happens, as well as ways to combat it.
Jody DeVere, president and chief executive of AskPatty.com Inc., a Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based online resource for automotive information for women, said she never experiences blogger burnout.
"I'm very passionate about my subject. I run around with a little notepad all the time. I always have plenty to blog about."
Still, she recognized that many people do experience burnout.
"Life happens. Sometimes circumstances happen in your life when you don't have time, or someone gets sick."
DeVere started AskPatty.com as a blog in 2006, and it quickly evolved into a Web site that gets 500,000 visitors per month and has a panel of experts. She and the other women who work for the site post two or three times a day.

AskPatty at AtlanticCityDealers: "Are Car Lots a Good Place to Meet Women?"
If you want to meet a lady, your local Buick dealer might be a good place to start. A recent report stated that more and more women are buying cars these days. In fact, they're spending more than $300 billion each year on buying, fixing and maintaining cars and trucks.
You might remember the days when the only decision a woman could make on the car lot was which color to choose (don't send me hate mail - those are the article's words, not mine). But younger women are now the fastest growing segment of car buyers. Internet sites like AskPatty.com have given women more information and confidence to walk into a dealership and make a car buying decision. AskPatty.com offers a variety of resources specifically for females, including a list of "female-friendly" dealers, advice pages, comparison pages and much, much more!

AskPatty at SocialVentureLabs and StartupNation: "Do You Believe In (Imaginary) Friends?"
When talking to Jody DeVere about her company Ask Patty, it's hard to know where DeVere ends and Patty begins. Both are smart, accomplished and energetic women, but only one has built several businesses, had children, and adapted through several industries. The other is a cartoon.
Like best friends though, they do most everything together: like get featured in the NYTimes five times (more on this later).
DeVere is one of those women that regardless of your age or gender, you admire the minute you connect with her. Her accomplishments and life experiences, and more importantly the way she manages both, are inspiring. Two things stood out for me: how the energy and support she gets from her family motivate her to accomplish great things, and her ability to create and focus on her vision.

AskPatty at Socalmom: "Summer Travel: Get Road Ready Contest"
We had big plans for our summer vacation this year: We were going to visit my husband's family in Wales.
That may not sound like much (given how many times we HAVE traveled to see my in-laws over the years). Let's change the emphasis: We had big plans for our SUMMER vacation.
I really wanted to go this summer, but it was not meant to be. With crude oil at record highs and the American dollar at record lows, traveling to Europe is simply too expensive for our family this year (even though we save on hotels by staying with family). So instead of one big vacation, we are taking several little road trips.
The folks at Ask Patty (the women's automotive website) and GetRoadReady.com produced this nifty video with tips to help you prepare for a family road trip:
