Ask Patty is supporting the United Spinal Association in an online-based holiday fundraising effort during the month of December. The mission of United Spinal is to provide expertise, create access to resources and strengthen hope, thereby enabling people with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D) to fulfill their potential as active members of their communities.
We’ve committed to support the United Spinal Association through donations, action, and simply spreading the word and educating everyone about people with spinal cord injuries and disorders. United Spinal not only supports people their members in their everyday lives, but also funds a Motorsports program: Living Life in Motion.
The mission of United Spinal Association’s Motorsports program is to encourage people with disabilities, including individuals who use adaptive automotive equipment, to participate in competitive motorsports. It is also to cultivate partnerships within the motorsports industry in support of the program, thus raising awareness about spinal cord injuries and disorders.
Aside from the Motorsports: Living Life in Motion, United Spinal Association offers a Motorsafe program. United Spinal Association’s Motorsafe program is a nationwide public awareness campaign promoting safe motoring and spinal cord injury prevention.
United Spinal also provides consultation to businesses, which covers accessibility and disability etiquette. They have a great Disability Etiquette brochure on the topic. It’s really educational and quite lighthearted!
Ask Patty’s President, Jody DeVere, has her own personal reason to support the United Spinal Association because her son, Joseph, is a paraplegic and suffers from Multiple Sclerosis.
Donations will be accepted through the Ask Patty website and blog. Look for the “Ask Patty supports United Spinal Association” button and click to learn more about the organization and to contribute.
