What could be wrong with my air conditioner? I have a 2002 Ford Explorer that has 66k miles. The fan on the air conditioner is hardly blowing. It does not change when the speed dial is adjusted - including max air. It seems to be blowing slightly more at the round vents at the top of the dash.
Drivers side windshield will not defrost and I smell coolant when I have the heat or defrosters turned on. I am thinking it is a leaking heater core but there is no evidence of the "leak" anywhere inside or under the hood. I know the air flow vents on these pickups are known to break, could this possible be the case or is it the heater core? Thanks.
The other day I was driving my car, which has nearly 128,000 miles on it, with the a/c running. No problems were detected. I stopped to run some errands and when I got back into the car and turned on the a/c, it started making a very loud, obnoxious rattling noise, as if something was loose. Along with the noise was the smell ... awful, like a bad beach ...
The air will not blow, the dash controls work and you can increase the fan speed on the dash but it will not blow the air.I have checked the fuse box under the engine at the drivers side. The 10 amp fuse is good. The steering controls still change the temp and the speed but nothing coming out of the vents.
Turned dial to defrost, and now will not change back to blowing out the dash vents
