My 1998 Saturn L1 makes a ticking sound when the engine is running. It sounds liek it is coming from more on teh driver's side of the engine than the passengar's. If I push on the gas, the ticking just gets faster, though not really louder. My husband described it as sounding like a motor boat. What do you think might be the issue?

However, since then I've heard an intermittent ticking from somewhere around the dashboard and steering wheel areas where the dealer had dissembled to fix the leak.
Hello. My name is Hildegaard and I own a 1998 Toyota Rav4-L. In December 2007 I was broadsided by a driver who ran a red light. The insurance deemed the car fixable. I am not so sure. The front tire had to be replaced along with the tie rod and spindle hub. Now the car makes a strange noise (ticking sound) when breaking. My question: although I expected new ...
I have a ticking/tapping sound coming from either the left side of my dash or steering column, what could it be. I heard it a couple of months ago, then it went away, and now it's back. It's so annoying that I turn the radio up to drown out the sound. The steering is fine as is everything else.
