My 1992 BMW 325i has been slowly leaking antifreeze for several years. My mechanic has tightened and changed various hoses but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Should I learn to drive a stick shift? I work in the automotive industry and confessing that I don' know how to drive stick has raised more than a few eyebrows among my enthusiasts peers.
