I was told that on my 08 Ford Focus that each tire has a bald spot. The tire man thinks sudden stops at high speed caused it, I rarely drive over 40mph in small town and I do not recall any sudden stops, any other possibility?

I am getting a high pitch whistling noise that starts above 40mph by the driver's side window. It sounds like a window leak, so i placed electrical tape over the top of the window glass and closed it, then drove to 40mph, but the noise is still there...any ideas? I have a 1999 Honda CRV with the 2.0 liter, 5 speed manual. While driving for about a half hour my crv just shut off out on no where doing about 40mph. It will not start again.
