Hello,

Thank you for writing in. There are many reasons why the check engine light might come on, and the only way to know what exactly the warning light is trying to tell you is by having it scanned for diagnostic codes. You can have the vehicle scanned at any automotive repair shop and at most automotive parts stores. This is typically a free service, so make sure you go somewhere that will not charge you to scan for codes. Since the vehicle is running fine, you may not need to act on this immediately. However, the component that is having an issue may still result in an issue down the road or end up causing an issue with another system or component. Always get check engine lights scanned for codes as soon as possible to minimize your chance at getting stranded or having a breakdown. Good luck!
