Can I get a regular oil change without paying the high cost of a synthetic oil change?

Hello,

Thank you for writing in. Generally speaking, you want to keep things consistent with the engine as much as possible. This means if you have been using a fully synthetic oil, rather than conventional or a blend, you ideally want to stick with synthetic oil. However, this is not a hard rule. If you need an oil change and can only afford conventional oil, then go ahead and change the oil. You will do more damage by not changing the oil than by switch between the two. Just make sure the oil filter is changed with every oil change, and that you are using the correct type of oil recommended by the manufacture. Good luck!
