Thank you for writing in. The symptoms you describe CAN be associated with a worn down differential with a broken ring or pinon gear inside. The sound you are hearing, if this is the case, is extra space between the gears that causes the teeth to bang together. However, there are several other suspension and wheel components that can cause similar sounds. Your best bet is to get a second opinion and price quote. Good luck!
