I’m trying to buy one car for 4.900 plus tax but it has over 218,000 miles on it will the motor go out soon and the engine light already on
Thank you for writing in. There is no way to definitively tell how long the engine will last or if the vehicle is actually worth that much without inspecting it. If the vehicle has over 218,000 miles on it, it is considered to have very high mileage. You will need to be worried about more than just the engine, although that is also a major concern. You also need to check out the brakes, steering and suspension components, and the condition of all of the electronics. If the check engine light is on, you know that there is potentially already a problem with the vehicle. Look up the value of the vehicle on Kelley Blue Book or a similar website, specific to the model and its current condition with that many miles on it, and compare it to what the asking price is. If you have $5,000 to spend on a used model, you may be able to get something with much less mileage and more reliability. Always get a pre-purchase inspection done by a third party mechanic so that you get an honest opinion about the value of the vehicle. Good luck!
