Pump kicks off repeatley trying to fill with gas

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Hello,

Thank you for writing in. The nozzle of the fuel pump will turn off when your car's fuel filler tube leading to the tank becomes full of fuel or pressurized with air. This happens when the air in the tank is not properly venting out through the tank's vapor recovery system. This is likely due to a clog in the fuel tank's vapor recovery system, more precisely the vapor canister. You may also have an issue with the fuel filler tube, but this is less likely. Only further inspection will tell.

Good luck!
