I have a 2007 Honda Accord my car will not stay on unless if my foot is on the gas and the brakes and something is popping under the hood it did not run hot what could it be
Hello,
Thank you for writing in. There are several components that could be to blame. Only diagnostic testing will determine what is the main culprit. First, you are likely having an issue with the air intake or the fuel system. Your gas pedal actually controls the flow of air into the engine, while your vehicle's computer determines how much fuel to mix with the air. Start by checking the Idle Air Control Valve, which is responsible for keeping the engine running when you let off the gas. You may also want to inspect the throttle body for signs of damage or contamination, check the fuel pressure at the engine (which will let you know if you are having an issue with the pump, filter, or clogged fuel lines), and then you can start to look into electrical problems if you haven't found the issue by this time. Scanning the vehicle for any diagnostic codes will also be beneficial. It is going to be a process of elimination, good luck!
