The car will start but the gear shifter is stuck in neutral

Hello,

Thank you for writing in. There are further tests that need to be done and further information needed in order to determine what is wrong. You will want to start by checking the transmission fluid to make sure it is topped off and in good condition. If it is low, add fluid, let the vehicle run, and try shifting. Low fluid means the transmission may be leaking and further inspection will be needed. Similar issues can be caused by the linkage between the transmission and the gear shift. You may want to consider getting help from a transmission specialist near you due to how complex transmission issues can be. Good luck!
