My Tribute has 170,000 miles. My check engine light is coming on and going off every so many drive cycles. Gas mileage seems to be normal. My car has the no gas cap system. The vehicle is running fine. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Thank you for writing in. There are many reasons why your check engine light may be coming on. The only way to figure out what your vehicle is trying to tell you is to have it scanned for diagnostic codes. This can be done by a technician or at most automotive parts stores. Wait until the check engine light comes on, and then immediately take it to be scanned. You can take corrective action from there if needed.

Good luck!
