Hi. I just want to ask about how can i assure that the new car that im buying is a brand new one. Or if there is something that i have to know/check in the car's body to convince myself that the car is definitely brand new and fresh from the supplier. It is just an assurance because im having a doubt on our agent right now. Because she have just swapped her 2017 model of the same unit that im about to buy. Im worried that there could be a possible illegal actions that some people might tolerate in order to have an extra income. Note: our agent didnt let us choose the variant that we want to instead she just name the available one (which is the variant trend AT 2018 model that she also said that there has no upgrade from its predecessor 2017 model). Hope you could give me some advice for me to have a wise buy and to feel the happiness that i have to feel knowing that i buy the car that is brand new and the one that i wanted.
Thank you for writing in. You can always run a vehicle history report on the vehicle to ensure that it is brand new. This is done with the vehicle's vin, and most dealerships will run a history report for you. The number of miles on the vehicle should be very very low if it is brand new. If you suspect that you are getting a model year newer, then you need to check the date on the inside of the driver's door panel. There is a date of manufacture that you can check on the label in the door frame.
I am not sure what you mean by "AGENT". Typically brand new cars are sold by the franchised dealership directly, at least in the US. You can ask to see the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin. You can also get the VIN and call the manufacturer's customer service number and have them verify that the vehicle is, in fact, new. If you are really concerned, run a Carfax report and see if the vehicle has ever been titled anywhere. If it has, it's not new.
