Hello,

Thank you for writing in. We love to hear that more women want to become engaged with their vehicle and the automotive world! Once you delve into it, most of the basics are very simple.

As far as a program in your area, I did a quick search and was able to find several community colleges around Virginia that offer automotive classes. They are:

Blue Ridge Community College

Danville Community College

Northern Virginia Community College

Tidewater Community College

It is very likely the DC will have similar options. I received my automotive technologies degree from our local community college, and the program was amazing. Most schools have an introductory class or a beginning class that covers basics for those who are not interested in receiving a full degree. This may be your best and most well constructed option, but it may also be more expensive that you are looking for.

Good luck, and I hope you find something you like! Its worth it!
