Why am I burning alot of fuel?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Hello,

There are several reasons why you might be burning through excess fuel. You will want to start by looking for a leak. This may be hard, but you can typically smell them. Look for leaks where steel fuel lines meet, and where the rubber fuel lines go into the engine.

Secondly, your vehicle's computer decides how much fuel to add depending on how far you push the throttle. Bad readings from dirty or failing sensors can cause the computer to make the engine to run poorly. Check the condition of the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor, oxygen sensors, and the spark plugs. Good luck!
