If I was in a side collision, is the steering wheel airbag suppose to come out?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA

Not unless the collision occurred within a 15 degree window of the front airbag.

Hello,

The steering wheel airbag does not inflate unless the sensors in that area are triggered. The steering wheel airbags can cause neck, arm, wrist, and hand injuries. Therefore its not always best that they deploy.
