Is the fuel filter external or internal on a 2012 3.6 liter Chevy Impala? If it is internal, is there a access to service it without dropping the fuel tank to change it?

Hello, thank you for writing in.

Your fuel filter will be located under the car. Locate the fuel lines between the tank and the engine. You will see a cylinder, the filter, somewhere between the wheel wells. Besides depressurizing the fuel system before removing the filter, you should not need to take any extra precautions. You can always rely on a Certified AskPatty.com Female Friendly service center for more help. Good Luck.
