Car is hard to turn goes in reverse when turning off key

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Hello, thank you for writing in. If the car is hard to turn, you want to start by looking at the level of power steering fluid. If it is low, you need to top it off. With that being said, if it is low, that means you may have a leak in the system somewhere. Look for any signs of a leak, and inspect around the power steering pump (as it is a very common place to get a leak).

The key situation may or may not be related, but we need to know if the steering wheel is turning in reverse, or if your car is trying to go in reverse when turning off the key. These are two different potential problems, one of which concerns your tranmission. For more help with an inspection, contact your local Certified AskPatty.com Female Friendly service center. Good luck!
