My son's car is slipping in and out of gear. It revs up real high and he has to let off the gas and play around with it but the car barely goes. He barely made it home. He discovered he's leaving a trail of fluid. There was a lot of debris in the road from a big windstorm tonight so he said it's possible he might've hit something. Any idea what could be going on?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive I would recommend getting the vehicle towed to a repair shop (avoid further damage) to get the fluid leak resolved. Low transmission fluid will cause the transmission not to shift properly. Driving with low transmission fluid can result in the transmission needing to be replaced instead of just a fluid line or pan replacement.
