I bought this car one year ago, it had 7 miles on it when I drove off the lot. Brand new.
Tonight on a 1/2 mile run up the street to milk store, my check engine light came on. :( Not happy. There's a 1/2 tank of gas and I bought gas about 1 week ago.
I dont need the oil changed for another 2k miles. According to the book, this is technically the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light). Any idea why this light would come on at around 6k miles? No symptoms. Gas cap is tight. Calling dealership tomorrow but not even very happy about going there. They don't seem to be master mechanics. Just wondering if you've heard anything about the 2014 Dodge Avenger having any issues at around 6k miles causing check engine light.
The only way to know what is causing the check engine light to be on is to professionally get it scanned. My recommendation is to bring your vehicle to a reputable shop and have them take a look.
