The front two tires on my Pontiac 2000 are about to go, they are 225/50's. I have an s10 with matching rims with 205/70's. Can I do a switch or is that too big of a difference?

Julie Scroggins, Vice President, CFO at Waukegan Tire and Supply Company Inc. Hi Sean, Sorry, but the Pontiac and the S-10 tires are not interchangeable. I would think this is a Pontiac Grand Am with 225/50R16 tires and the Chevy S-10 has 205/70R15 sot he rims and/or tires will not swap. ~Julie

Pat Fleischmann, Director of First Impressions at Community Tire Pros & Auto Repair "Short answer is yes there is too much of a difference." Long answer is without knowing the rim diameter of each I'm going to guess the 225/50 are 16" and the 205/70 are 15", if this is the case there is 1.44" difference in diameter which is too much of a variance but what really makes a difference is the 205/70 is a standard performance rated tire and most likely the 225/50 is an ultrahigh performance tire and you definitely cannot mix these together on the same vehicle. Hope this helps make your decision!
