Hi, I recently messed up my boyfriend's car, which is a 1993 Honda Accord LX, 4door, Automatic Transmission. In a parking lot that I drive through on a regular basis, there are huge drainage ditches that dip down extremely low to the ground. Before driving over them, you really have to slow down, almost to the point of coming to a complete stop, otherwise you can really damage your vehicle, no matter what kind you drive. Anyway, I thought I slowed down enough(like I always do), but obviously I was going way too fast, because I scraped the bottom of the car(on the passenger side) so hard, that it was very loud, and it worried me. Well, after that, you could hear a belt whining loudly, and then smell it burning. After I got it home, my boyfriend popped the hood & showed me the part that I hit so hard, that it actually bent, and the belt that is on the part(which he called a serpentine belt) was shredding apart. Long story short, my question is: What is the name of the part that I bent? My boyfriend wasn't exactly sure. Thanks in advance, for any help you might be able to give me.
