I have my Toyota Camry 1998 6/cya for 11 yrs. I haven't flushed transmission since I've had it. It has 282,650 miles and has a "hard engage" when I first put in reverse. Someone did add transmission fluid, (Lucas oil transmission fix) back last October, because it was low and leaking a little. Should I have transmission flushed? Or not. Sometimes, it shifts slow in drive through the other gears in cold weather. What should I do?

May, On your 1998 Toyota Camry, A transmission service or a transmission flush (2 different types of services) are maintenance services and will not correct an internal transmission issue or correct a leak issue. The cause of the leak or transmission issue will need to be diagnosed for the correct repair. Transmission fix type liquids are not repairs. Good luck.
