Is 176k miles a lot for 2001 Oldsmobile alero?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Andrea, Not if you keep up with the required maintenance, my personal daily driver is a 2001 Mazda Tribute which I just rolled over 200k miles. Ensure that you are keeping up with the lubricants, spark, and air, and your Alero should treat you well. Make sure you are maintaining your brakes, alignment, and suspension. With an older vehicle of course things are going to wear out in time, and sometimes around the same time. I like to think of, would I rather a car payment, or a maintenance bill to keep my ride on the road every so often.

Gail Dunn, Owner at Women's Automotive Connection Andrea Not if it has been well maintained. Average mileage is 15,000/year in the US.

Gelina Aquilina, Service Advisor / Mechanic at That is considered high mileage, although it's below average for a car that age.
