Not if you keep up with the required maintenance, my personal daily driver is a 2001 Mazda Tribute which I just rolled over 200k miles. Ensure that you are keeping up with the lubricants, spark, and air, and your Alero should treat you well. Make sure you are maintaining your brakes, alignment, and suspension. With an older vehicle of course things are going to wear out in time, and sometimes around the same time. I like to think of, would I rather a car payment, or a maintenance bill to keep my ride on the road every so often.
