Linoshka,
Here is a great link pertaining to your possible issue, this states a Rav4, but the components are the same for Sequoias.

I recommend that you visit your local dealership to ensure that you do not have a deeper issue, at times this light will come on too if you have low brake pads.
I recommend you take your Toyota in and have the computer scanned to find the code set when the check engine light came on. Then the tech can advise you what is wrong, or what test needs to be done to find out what is wrong.
FYI: it is seldom "just the gas cap" when a check engine light comes on.
Lights come on if something is wrong. It might need some kind of repair. Call around to shops who offer a free diagnosis. Lot's of places will check the system with a scan tool for free.
The VSC (vehicle stability control) light will stay illuminated and the system disabled until the check engine light is resolved. The check engine light needs to be properly diagnosed and repaired before either of these two warning lights will go off and stay off.
