When I turn the key to start, nothing happens, but when i move shifter back and forth and back to park, the car starts ok. What's going on?

Daniel,
You may need to have your park neutral switch checked, this may be faulty and causing a fail safe mode in the ignition switch.
Sounds like the car is having a hard time acknowledging it is in park. All cars are required to have a neutral safety switch that tells the computer the vehicle is in park and its okay to start.
There could be an adjustment for the shift linkage. There could also be an issue with the switch itself.
