My 2000 Dodge Stratus will turn over but will not stay running. We changed the fuel filter but no change. There also is a red blinking light in the instrument panel that has been blinking non stop.

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Mark, You may need to replace your Idle air control valve, this is a fairly inexpensive and easy replacement for further diagnostics if this does not fix your drivability concern. Ensure that your fuel pump is functioning properly as well, turn the key to the run position and listen for a low hum near the gas tank. If you have a check engine light, your local auto parts store may be able to run a diagnostics test for you.

Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Mark, A RED blinking light on your dash means "Danger Danger!" I would recommend that you quit trying to get your Dodge started and get it towed into a shop for a diagnosis. If you keep trying to start the car you could cause a bigger problem then you already have.
