I'm lifelong New Yorker who just took big job at a VT college (professor plus management); am a driver but snow is hassle! College is 15 minutes from my home, and also want to get to gym nearby without worrying about weather.
Have a big old 2004 Buick, now considering 4-wheel mid level priced "tank" - what do you recommend? Pls no "old lady/soccer mom" SUVs!! Fashionista me also has 14-yr old red convertible!!! Hope that is enough detail.
Can totally relate to your need for style and fun. I can only share my experience with a somewhat "sporty snow worthy" vehicle. I drive an all wheel drive Honda CR-V in MN and it handles great in all weather conditions. I didn't grow up in snow country, so I was a bit cautious in the beginning when moving here 2 years ago. I wouldn't recommend going through a deep snow--it does sit lower on the ground that a traditional SUV, but handles very well and most of all--I feel safe.
