My 2007 Mitsubishi Galant was completely dead after coming out from a store today. Dash lights worked as well as the radio, but nothing else. Was able to jump the car and got it running. Drove it home and the entire time the car was idling very high and was kind of jerking. When I got home and pulled into the garage and placed it in park the car idled extremely high before turning it off. Once I turned it off, I could not get it to start again. Still have dash lights and radio/clock etc. Tried to jump it again and this time would not take a jump. HELP!!!
There is not enough information to determine what might be wrong with your Galant.
You did not say if the check engine light was on.
I recommend you have it towed to into a shop for diagnosis of the problem.

Dead or poor quality batteries can cause very strange issues. The alternator may be on it's way out as well. I'd take it in and have the charging system tested.

I would start with the battery. If jumping it worked the first time, it is probably at least part of the issue. Some vehicles will idle high and exhibit drivability issues if the battery is disconnect or the voltage drops too low, as this causes the computer to lose its adaptive memory.
There may be additional issues that need to be addressed after, but start with having the battery tested and replaced if necessary.
