I have a 2006 Nissan Quest. Sometimes if I turn the fan/heat on I hear a loud screeching type noise. When I instantly turn the fan off it seems to mostly go away. I also sometimes here this when I press the gas. The screeching goes on for a bit then will stop. What could this be?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Sara, You may need to have your serpentine belt and pulleys inspected. Your belts can be come worn and cracked causing a high pitch steel when under a load.

Barb Petrey, President - DBK Enterprises Inc at Jiffy Lube Check your belts and check the heater fan to see if there is some debris in it.

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive Sounds like a belt or pulley issue. Get this looked at soon. A broken belt could leave you stranded.
