Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Sam, Sounds like you may be in the need of a coolant flush, and/or fan relay replacement.

Barb Petrey, President - DBK Enterprises Inc at Jiffy Lube Sounds like the problem is with the fan or the relays that control it.

Gelina Aquilina, Service Advisor / Mechanic at I would have your cooling system pressure checked as well as having the electronic part of the fan diagnosed.

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive Have the vehicle towed to a repair shop (you may want to find one that specializes in VW). Until the cause of the overheating is found, you do not want to drive it as this may result in permanent and catastrophic engine damage. The issue may be as simple as a fan or fan relay. It may also be a coolant flow issue. Either way, you want to have it properly diagnosed.
