My 2000 Subaru Outback drifts drastically to the right at any speed and also has a severe wobble or shake on the rear passenger side. How do I fix the problem?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA I recommend you first have your alignment checked to insure you are inside manufacturer specs.

Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Hi Zach, A drastic drift and a severe wobble shake do not sound safe. It could be a blown strut, bad wheel bearing or something wrong with the tire. I highly recommend you have it towed to a repair center ASAP and find out what is wrong.

Barb Petrey, President - DBK Enterprises Inc at Jiffy Lube Get a 4-wheel alignment and have the wheels all checked. Check tires for even wear as well.

Gelina Aquilina, Service Advisor / Mechanic at Hey Zach, sounds like a suspension/alignment issue you'd have to have diagnosed by a mechanic.

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive Take the vehicle to a good repair shop and have this checked out. It may be something as simple as a tire that is low on air, but it could also be something very wrong in the front end of the vehicle. This is something you should at least have looked at as soon as possible.

Maryann Croce, Owner at Croce’s Transmission Specialists Hi Zach, About your 2000 Subaru, Your concerns could be tire, wheel bearing or axle related. A technician will perform a road test to verify your concerns and then an under carriage inspection (on a lift) will be needed to locate the vehicle issue. Good Luck.
