My car has an extremely high idle while in park and neutral. When driving, it accelerates on it's own to about 35 mph. When I brake, it tries to lunge forward. This happened several times before after driving at high speeds down the highway but always went away. Now after driving on the highway this weekend, it is still acting like it's going 60 mph at all times! Please help. I'm thinking about replacing the TPS. I cleaned the throttle body and that did not help. Thanks so much!

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Rachael, Yes. I agree on taking a close look at the throttle position sensor, best place to start.

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive Start by checking for a disconnected or missrouted vacuum hose. You may want to take it to a shop to have it properly diagnosed as a car that accelerates on its own is a huge safety issue.
