How do I reset the remaining oil life button in my 2008 Suzuki XL7? I just had my oil changed but it keeps saying 2% oil life remaining, change oil soon every time I start my car.

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Sit in the driver's seat of the XL7. Insert the ignition key and turn it to "RUN." Do not start the engine. Press and release the gas pedal three times within five seconds. Watch for the engine oil light to flash, indicating that the system is reset. Turn the key to "OFF" and remove it from the ignition.

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive Greetings, The first is to turn the key on, with the engine off. Press the buttom on the instrument cluster until it says OIL LIFE REMIAINING. Hold in the set/reset button for 5-10 seconds. It should change to 100%. If that does not work, turn the key on, engine off and press the gas pedal 3 times, quickly. It should come up oil life reset.
