While I was driving down the road in my Dodge Dakota, the radio went off then check engine light came on. Then truck died. I pulled over and the truck started back up. What could be the problem?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Hi Debbie, Sounds like your Dakota had a 'Hiccup'. If the check engine light is flashing - you should not drive it anymore and have it towed into your Automotive Service Center. If the check engine light is solid and your Dodge is having weird symptoms like hesitating, stalling, running rough, then I recommend you get it into the shop right away. If the check engine light is on solid but your vehicle is driving fine, then you should make an appointment sooner then later. The technician will hook up a diagnostic computer to your Dakota's computer to see what 'codes' were set when your vehicle hiccuped. This will either give the technician valuable information to determine what happened or give them enough information that they know what tests to perform to see what is going on..

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive Sounds like you have a loose ground wire or battery cable. There may be additional electrical issues going on, but i would start with checking the battery cables and ground wires. Also get the charging system checked.
