On the 2011 Dodge Avenger, where is the crankshaft position sensor? I cannot find it!

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Donna, Your CKP should be located on the transmission housing, it has its own ribbed black wire protector, and has (2) bolts. Be aware that before tightening the sensor mounting bolt, be sure the sensor is completely flush to the mounting surface. If the sensor is not flush, damage to the sensor mounting tang may result. The Cam/Crank Variation Relearn procedure must be performed anytime there has been a repair/replacement made to a powertrain system, for example: flywheel, valve train, camshaft and/or crankshaft sensors or components

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive The Crankshaft postion sensor should be on the back of the cylinder head, near the transmission. It is easier to acess from under the car, and there may be a heat shield in the way.
