I recently purchased a 1992 Dodge Dakota. It has 19,800 miles on the odometer and is a 5.2 V8 automatic. When I drive the Dakota, the engine randomly dies on me. There is not sputtering, coughing or anything to indicate an issue. The tachometer just flatlined to zero and it turned off. When the engine is on it runs really strong, no hesitations or lack of power. The truck had been sitting for a long time on the owners back field. So I thought it might of been a case of bad gas, or maybe a gummed up fuel pump so I added some seafoam additive to it, but now it's not even starting. Help!

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive There are many things it could be. Start with the basics. If it has been sitting for a while, check the fuel filter, air filter and spark plugs/wires/distributor cap. If checking these few items does not point out anything obvious, take it to a shop and have it diagnosed.
