If it is old enough to have a carburetor, it doesn't have any sensors related to fuel delivery anyway. It could have a fuel cutoff switch problem, but that is not a sensor.

If it's a 98, its fuel injected, not carbureted. Take it to a reputable repair shop and have it diagnosed. There should be a test port on the fuel rail to hook a guage up to and see if the fuel pump is putting out anything. If it has pressure, you have an issue somewhere else. If there is no pressure, the fuel delivery system needs to be diagnosed.
