I used Continental Extreme Contact DWS 235/45R17W for my 2004 Audi A6 2.7 twin turbo. They lasted for only $24K (a year) and the center who did my alignments and rotations say that they would not recommend this type of tire for my car. They installed them last year and they didn't mention anything beack then. They say that the reason why the tires are worn out so fast is because they are too soft for the car I am driving. Continental tires are giving me 30% discount for a replacement only because the tires are not worn out evenly. They say it is because of the alignment. So, do I go back and argue with the tire center that it is their fault too because their workmanship was not great? I don't have any technical expertise but I know I need new tires and somehow only after a year I have to pay for a new set again that have to be either Continental or General. Which one do I pick? Thank you. Cristina

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Cristina, A great rule of thumb is to rotate your tires, every other oil change. This will ensure the longevity and more even wear pattern on your tires. I harder compound tire may last longer, but can be a more vigorous ride. I would recommend that you also have your alignment checked, which if it is out the slightest can cause premature uneven tire wear. A. J. Valle
