Steering wheel controls and driver door controls work but do not illuminate

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Colleen McGee, Driving Instructor at Americas Driving School Hi Billy! I had a vehicle where the gear shift panel light went out, I went to the dealer to see about getting it fixed, and it would have cost over $100.00 because of the work of taking the panel out to get to the light, (not worth the money!). I didn't keep the vehicle long enough to try anything else. the only thing I could think of short of taking the panel apart yourself is getting some glow-in-the-dark adhesive to put there to give you some light when it's dark. Good luck and happy driving Colleen

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Billy, Thank You for writing into AskPatty! To address your concern, typically if you have steering wheel and door functions that no longer illuminate, your bulbs are blown. These bulbs may be soldered to a circuit board located under the buttons. If you are not comfortable with removing the bulb and re-soldering yourself, I recommend that you have a professional replace your bulb/s. Hope this Helps! A. J. Valle
