A/C fan works, but frequently makes a squealing sound as if the fan is hitting something. What is wrong, and how much to fix?

Bett,
Thank You for writing into AskPatty!!
To address your concern, a "squealing" noise may be coming from one of your drive belts. This may be an A/C belt or power steering belt. I would have your belt inspected for wear and cracks, many times it may just require a bit of "belt dressing" to condition the belt and quite the sound. That would be a low cost solution, IF that was the only problem.
Hope This Helps!!

Hi Bett:)
The squealing noise may be coming from your blower motor, which is located on the passenger side, dash. The shaft & bearing inside the motor may be dry and intermittently causing the noise. At my shop we would replace the blower motor, however I found a link that explains about it and how you could attempt to lube it, may or may not work.....

To find out how much replacement of the blower motor would be - check the Repair Price Estimator on my website www.larsonsservice.com - Hope this helps:)
